Guided Drawing ®
Guided Drawing® is a healing approach developed by Cornelia Elbrecht founder of the Institute of Sensory Motor Art Therapy (ISAT) - Apollo Bay - Australia.
Guided Drawing ® is a bilateral drawing approach that supports body mapping in a trauma-informed way. It is a body based somatic practice where clients draw with both hands on large sheets of paper following an inner guidance under the supervision of the facilitator.
The facilitator create a safe environment for the clients to express one’s felt sense, so that inner tensions, physical and emotional pain are expressed in the drawing and in the rhythm and intensity of the drawing activity and movements.
Guided Drawing doesn’t use imagery, but the direct expression of one’s FELT SENSE. Archetypal shapes are suggested to ease the process.
Clients feel empowered by expressing and Re-Membering their Body, Mind and Soul feeling that healing is in their hands and it is possible.
“Neuroplasticity has discovered that through creating new experiences, we can help the brain recalibrate itself towards responding adequately to the current reality, interrupting destructive habits and negative belief systems from the past. Such a process allows clients to rewrite their biography towards a more authentic, alive sense of self.”
