The word Initiatic refers to an art therapy that initiate your personal process of inner transformation for better understanding your personal path and for walking into it with awareness and courage.

Sensory Motor Art Therapy is a bottom-up therapeutic technique.

‘Bottom-up healing approaches focuses on the body, the Felt Sense, and the instinctive responses as they are mediated through the brain stem and move upward to impact the limbic and cortical areas of the brain. Continuous loops of information travel from the body to the brain and from the brain to the body’ - Cornelia Elbrecht - Founder of the Institute for Sensory Motor Art Therapy ISAT - Australia

How is an Initiatic Art Therapy Session structured?

The client create a personal space using a table with art material ( a list is sent before the session for the client to get ready).

After creating a safe environment through conversation with the facilitator, the client will be invited to engage with artistic activities.

The facilitator holds the space in order for the clients to express him/herself through his/her art and will help to support the activity.

At the end of the session a conversation together will help the client to express in words what happened during the activity understanding the process.
